It's been a tough year for small businesses so, from February to April, Art in the Age is hosting a shop within a shop - Each week we will spotlight a unique local business in-store as part of our Makers & Shakers Series. February 20th — Harriett's Bookshop | Named for historical heroine Harriet Tubman, our mission celebrates women authors, women artists, and women activists.

February 27th — Cultivated Bohemians Plants | Cultivated Bohemians is a Philadelphia based Wellness + Lifestyle studio and brand created for free-thinkers, the artist, the mavericks and everything in between.

February 28th — Persimmon Coffee | Infused with Japanese and Korean minimalist design, Persimmon Coffee is an independent coffee roastery and lifestyle brand founded out of a mutual devotion to genuine community, empathy, and storytelling.



March 6th — French Kiss Vintage | French Kiss Vintage is a curated collection of vintage clothing focusing on quality pieces from the 40's through the 90's. Our mission is to promote sustainable fashion by giving a second life to well-designed, timeless vintage clothing. 

March 7th — Marcus Maddox | Marcus Maddox is a photographer (b. 1994) working and living in Philadelphia. His work is characterized by a unique color pallete, guided by intuition and empathy. He became interested in photography while growing up in Nashville, TN and photographing local musicians. Drawn towards the personal, Maddox sets out to capture the human condition in a meaningful and cinematic way.

March 13th — Abraham Candles | Theresa and Jax are full time architects and part time candle makers/self care enthusiasts. They offer a variety of products using natural ingredients like soy and bees wax, essential oils, and dried botanicals. All of their candles are made in bespoke thrifted containers that give each of them a unique feel and a second life.

March 20th — David Moy | David Moy's art is a collage of mediated imagery sourcing from media and technology. Using digital printers and plotters to contain the contradictions of our virtual bubbles in printed form. As well as questioning the effects it has on us the individual and our perception of reality.

March 21st – FLOWER SHOP!!! | FLOWER SHOP!!! is a virtual flower shop, queer owned and run by two florists, powered by Instagram, the Cedar Park community, and beyond. They will be selling made-to-order bouquets using seasonal, spring-inspired blooms.

March 27th – Ginja Snap | GINJA SNAP is a light, refreshing beverage with hints of citrus and honey wrapped up in the spice of ginger. It can be enjoyed as a casual drink, wellness booster, warmed up for tea, or a mixer for your favorite cocktail.


April 3rd — Sundry MorningsYou may know Miranda at Sundry Mornings for her Bloody the Vampire Slayer Bloody Mary Mix, but have you tried her products that started it all? Shop some of her small batch, locally sourced spice blends and hot sauces. She’ll also be offering No-Waste All-Natural Egg Dying kits just in time for Easter.

April 4th — Cultivated Bohemians Plants | Cultivated Bohemians is a Philadelphia based Wellness + Lifestyle studio and brand created for free-thinkers, the artist, the mavericks and everything in between.

April 10th — Gemini Sun CreativeDani is a fine art and intimate wedding + elopement photographer, living in Philadelphia, PA, and working worldwide.

April 17th — Philadelphia Beer CandlesSellus & Sydney started Philadelphia Beer Candles during the time of Covid quarantine. They make small batch, hand poured natural soy wax candles. Their candles are made using upcycled beer cans (and a few jars & bottles) and infused with natural essential oil blends to fill your home with both fresh scents and eclectic style.

April 24th — OdabuPracticing art, barbering, herbalism, and craft, odabu develops a transformative platform where aesthetic design, social justice, and inclusive self care intersect. Odabu is a queer operated outdoor studio based in a Philadelphia garden environment.


May 1st — KB Clay | Modern and clean pots in form, and hand painted with illustrations and colorful patterns that speak to our connection with the earth. There will be mugs, cups, vases, and planters available for purchase. **Some original patterns/styles as well as some pieces from their most recent illustrative direction will also be on hand.

May 1st — Vamo Coffee | Vamo Coffee is a small Philly coffee roaster that aims to make high quality, specialty coffee that is approachable for everyone. They work with single origin coffee as well as create their own blends.

May 15th — Cusp By Cassie | Cusp by Cassie is run by leather and fiber artist Cassie Jones who uses her skills to make fun handbags and accessories combined with locally designed thread patches. She'll have a selection of handmade bags for sale made of vintage, dyed and dead stock fabrics as well as leather left over from the meat industry. Not one for bags? She’ll also have patches for sale so you can do your own home embellishing.

May 22nd — Originally Distinct | Originally Distinct is a local artist and creative working out of Old City. You may recognize his art from around the neighborhood and most recently his mural that was just completed at the corner of 3rd & Chestnut. This Saturday, from 3-6pm, he'll be set up at the shop showcasing some of his most recent art, shirts, and hats.
