Mail-Order Friend: David Horvitz, MFA

IN A NUTSHELL: David Horvitz, a current MFA at Bard College, will send you all sorts of random objects, photos, and forms of documentation for sums of money ranging from $1 to $31,000+. He even accepts progressive donations.

I want to be his friend immediately.
But I will probably have to pay for it via PayPal. Damn.

Check out his rather ridiculous, rather fabulous website entitled "THINGS FOR SALE THAT I WILL MAIL YOU." Even more intriguing is the page of things that were sold.

Here, paraphrased, are a few of the items for sale:

For $$$, David Horvitz flew to LA to spend 20 days alone with his friends' cat.

For $30, David Horvitz will walk around New York, and the first homeless person he sees, he will buy him or her whatever he or she wants to eat (as long as it is less than $30). He will mail you back the exact change (minus the Paypal fee and the cost of the postage stamp) with the receipt for the food and the name of the person who ate it.

If you give David Horvitz $1,626 he will go to the small Okinawan island called Taketomi and send you an envelope filled with star-sand (don't worry, he's been there before, he knows where to go). He will send it from there.

This is incredible. Kudos to The Internet for allowing this guy to pursue these projects. As for my participation, I am waiting for a sale.
