Linoleum block printing out. Out of style, out of date, and to do it you have to be a little out of your mind. But as with many antiquated artistic techniques, there are a few practitioners holding it down and moving it forward. Bill McRight is one of those few who will take the chisel over the mouse any day, putting in hours to carve a block where others are quick to click "Import to Illustrator." "The level of craft that goes into creating a block and printing it is really appealing," McRight says. "There is a tradition behind it, even if it is a dying one." Publishing his prints through such shops as Cannonball Press in Brooklyn, Evil Prints in St Louis, and working for Saturday skateboards, McRight is currently a member of Space 1026 in Philadelphia but headed west to St Louis soon, where he is sure to unveil a thing or two to the Show Me state. - Alex Lukas
